Summary

WHAT IF LIFE WASN'T ABOUT DECADES OF WAGE-SLAVERY, PAYING BILLS, AND THEN DYING?

Today's contemporary slavery is an implied social contract whereas a gilded cage is exchanged for voluntary indebtedness and lifelong toil, a price sacrificed by a non-redeemable fifty-years of Monday through Friday, a willful servitude in which freedom is only promised by the dawn of life's fading twilight。-
MJ DeMarco

HAS AN INVISIBLE SCRIPT HIJACKED YOUR LIFE?
UNLOCK YOUR TRUTH。 UNLEASH YOUR DREAM。

Tired of sleepwalking through a mediocre life bribed by mindless video-gaming, redemptive weekends, and a scant paycheck from a soul-suffocating job? Welcome to the SCRIPTED club-- where membership is neither perceived or consented。

The fact is, ever since you've been old enough to sit obediently in a classroom, you have been culturally engineered for servitude, unwittingly enslaved into a Machiavellian system where illusionary rules go unchallenged, sanctified traditions go unquestioned, and lifelong dreams go unfulfilled。 As a result, your life is hijacked and marginalised into debt, despair, and dependence。 Life's death sentence becomes the daily curse of the trivial and mundane。 Fun fades。 Dreams die。 Don't let life's consolation prize become a car and a weekend。

Recapture what is yours and make a revolutionary repossession of life-and-liberty through the pursuit of entrepreneurship。 A paradigm shift isn't needed--the damn paradigm needs to be thrown-out altogether。

The truth is, if you blindly follow conventional wisdom pushed by conventional people living conventional lives, can you expect to be anything but conventional? Rewrite life's script: ditch the job, give Wall Street the bird, and escape the insanity of trading your life away for a paycheck and an elderly promise called retirement。

UNSCRIPT today and start leading life-- instead of life leading you。

Wow the first 10 chapters or so was a huge rant by the author。 The good point was that the author sounded authentic and he gave straight-in-your-face wisdom。 The bad however was that the author was able to write incredible long paragraphs one after another and somehow the book got to over 500 pages! The author had 2 business degrees and he realized his dreams of becoming wealthy at a young age。

I guess depends on who is reading the book, halfway through the book, I could understand what MJ is talking about。 Since I have been reading and acting as what he describes。 Most of the ways that investors/advisors are talking about, it's basically for having more income, but none is good enough for being wealthy and probably debt-free。 And as MJ says, you have to try, the chance of being lucky happens if you try more。 it's all probability! I started to read it a few years back but stopped - since I felt the author is too much of an anger/ego character (“You VS the World”)。 But someone recommended the author again so I gave it another try and finished it。 Now I'd say the anger/ego brought me a lot of laughter - the author makes fun of so many things and people, being totally honest in his opinion。 A lot of good harsh truth in this book, but I still wouldn’t recommend since it’s too long :D But the content IS good, I took a lot of n I started to read it a few years back but stopped - since I felt the author is too much of an anger/ego character (“You VS the World”)。 But someone recommended the author again so I gave it another try and finished it。 Now I'd say the anger/ego brought me a lot of laughter - the author makes fun of so many things and people, being totally honest in his opinion。 A lot of good harsh truth in this book, but I still wouldn’t recommend since it’s too long :D But the content IS good, I took a lot of notes。 "Unscripted" = "Take the path least traveled"。 Don’t let others influence you, pick Your own lane。 The author is all against the RAT RACE happening everywhere - in school, in work, in stock market。 The problem with the rat race is when You win it, You're still a rat ;) OH, and if You are confused about Your purpose/meaning, then YOU DON'T HAVE ONE! 。。。more

Amazing expose’ of the system and an amazing strategy for the wise to emerge UNSCRIPTED。 I love this book as well as Millionaire Fastlane。 Schools don’t teach about money, they prepare you for employment and slavery。 Unscripted is a step by step strategy out of the rat race。 If you like this book, you’ll love “The Truth About Money” by Timsimon “Bamboo” Kimani。 This new wave of financial wisdom is a must-have for those who do NOT want to be slaves。

This is the best book I’ve read this year。 MJ DeMarco’s unfiltered tone of speaking might not suit everyone but for those who get past it, this book is life-changing。 I listened to the audiobook but bought the hard-copy and I’ll re-read this again and take notes。

Second of MJ DeMarco's book readI loved this book。 The writing style made it feel as though I was having a one to one conversation。 Not lecturing or condescending, but real-life, non-scammy advice。 I am a person who hates the idea of "worshipping" anyone or anything and this author almost requires that mind-set; a perfect fit for me。 Second of MJ DeMarco's book readI loved this book。 The writing style made it feel as though I was having a one to one conversation。 Not lecturing or condescending, but real-life, non-scammy advice。 I am a person who hates the idea of "worshipping" anyone or anything and this author almost requires that mind-set; a perfect fit for me。 。。。more

I'm listening to the Audiobook, and 12% through。The first 45 minutes was literally telling usa) how good this book will eventually be (typically American style)b) how much of a loser we are at the momentSubsequent hour and a half is a right-wing rant against everything that he doesn't like: snowflakes, democrats, paying any tax, regulations, governments, Universities, Kim Kardasian, Beyonce, movies without total scientific accuracy, losers that 'follow the rules' (or pay tax)。I forget the rest, I'm listening to the Audiobook, and 12% through。The first 45 minutes was literally telling usa) how good this book will eventually be (typically American style)b) how much of a loser we are at the momentSubsequent hour and a half is a right-wing rant against everything that he doesn't like: snowflakes, democrats, paying any tax, regulations, governments, Universities, Kim Kardasian, Beyonce, movies without total scientific accuracy, losers that 'follow the rules' (or pay tax)。I forget the rest, just the ranting of a dude who is clearly turning into another McAfee。This guy is a delusional libertarian, and hasn't offered _any_ information in the first 2。5 hours。Unbearable book。 This is a rant; an arrogant manifesto of a man bizarrely lucky enough to become wealthy, despite his failings。 。。。more

DISAPPOINTED! This book could have been a blog post。 The author spends way too much time ranting about how we've been preconditioned to a scripted lifestyle。 He also keeps trying to sell you the book which makes no sense considering the reader is already reading it。 Not sure I learned anything from this entire book。 I'm so pained that I bought it and had it shipped across the country。 Ugh! I didn't know about The Millionaire Fastlane and the forum I saw this book in the book store and it catches my attention。 Well, honestly, the title is so cheesy, and I thought this is a kind of rich dad and poor dad book🙏。 So then I searched for the reviews and all the reviews said good things about the book and I decided to purchase the book。I find the book is highly insightful yet so amusing though it took me quite long time to finish the book because each chapter is so essential and it looks I didn't know about The Millionaire Fastlane and the forum I saw this book in the book store and it catches my attention。 Well, honestly, the title is so cheesy, and I thought this is a kind of rich dad and poor dad book🙏。 So then I searched for the reviews and all the reviews said good things about the book and I decided to purchase the book。I find the book is highly insightful yet so amusing though it took me quite long time to finish the book because each chapter is so essential and it looks more like a mandatory books that your teacher told you to read before the test except for MJ's writing style。 I need to make an essay for this book because it all so fundamental and that will be my handbook。Lastly, of course I would purchase The Millionaire Fastlane! 。。。more

Life-changing to some degree。 Unfortunately, it was very long。 boring, to some extent。 Kept giving numbered advice, despite the fact that it preached having a bias towards action。 Due to these issues, it was hard for me to reach a general conclusion or summarize the book for myself due to extensive content and confusion。 Much of the book was marketing/Business textbook material written in a university manner。 Contradictory to the first half of the book written in a witty, "fuck you" manner。It wo Life-changing to some degree。 Unfortunately, it was very long。 boring, to some extent。 Kept giving numbered advice, despite the fact that it preached having a bias towards action。 Due to these issues, it was hard for me to reach a general conclusion or summarize the book for myself due to extensive content and confusion。 Much of the book was marketing/Business textbook material written in a university manner。 Contradictory to the first half of the book written in a witty, "fuck you" manner。It would've been better in half of its current length。。。 。。。more

Advice wrapped in bravado, or is it the other way around?I'm going to pay the devil his due here; there is some really good advice in this book, particularly DeMarco's points around focusing on profit and creating value, listening and responding to the market, and avoiding common pitfalls。 The big problem, however, is in the execution and the insufferable tone of the book。The first hundred or so pages of the book is a rant that plays out philosophically somewhere between the movies The Matrix an Advice wrapped in bravado, or is it the other way around?I'm going to pay the devil his due here; there is some really good advice in this book, particularly DeMarco's points around focusing on profit and creating value, listening and responding to the market, and avoiding common pitfalls。 The big problem, however, is in the execution and the insufferable tone of the book。The first hundred or so pages of the book is a rant that plays out philosophically somewhere between the movies The Matrix and Fight Club。 Watch those movies and skip the first quarter of the book。The remaining three quarters of the book are the real meat and potatoes of the book, but could really be edited down。 DeMarco has a habit of taking way too long to get to the point and comes off as being rather mean-spirited towards people who don't share his worldview。 He also coins terms for ideas that we already have the words to describe, which just makes things more confusing than they need to be。This book could be improved tenfold by cutting the page count in half and losing the snarky tone。TL;DR - Too long, too much bravado, and not a lot of new ideas。 You can find the similar advice executed in a much better way in plenty of other books。 。。。more
